The subject of seedboxes being slow tends to be the most talked issue around the web and there are many variables that can cause slow speeds. Here are a few tips to think about if you are experiencing slow speeds.
1) Hardware I/O When servers are being used there is only a certain amount of transactions the memory can make to the hardrives. The harddrives are limited because they are a moving object and will only be able to save your files slower than they can be recieved and stored in the RAM. The RAM is able to store large amounts of data very quickly without the slowing you may find on the harddrives. You may notice your speed is very fast in the begining of a download but could slow if the RAM becomes completely filled. The best solution for this is to only download at a max of 10 GB worth of torrents. This won't press the server too hard for resources. Downloading hundreds of torrents will not make your speed faster and will only slow the process.
2) International Transfers It is a widely known fact that if you have to connect to a server overseas, your connection will be slower than if the server was in your city. If you have issues with speeds, and you are across a body of water from our servers (either located in France or the Netherlands) we would recommend using a free FTP program called FileZilla. This will allow your connection to open multiple streams our servers allowing you to max out your connection easily. You can find more information on this here: http://filezilla-project.org/
3) Daemon Activity Most torrent clients will make it a priority to download torrents before seeding them back. If you are having slow upload speeds and you are downloading many torrents, the upload speeds will return to their normal values once your downloads are complete. Pausing the seeding torrents may also speed up your downloads.
4) Seeds vs. Peers If your account is barely being used and you are still having speed issues, you may be dealing with a large swarm of seeders. When seeding a torrent, you offer up files to a tracker that allows users to connect to your torrent client. If a user was trying to download a part of the torrent from you and you were the only seeder of that torrent, your upload speeds will max out due to the demand. But on the other hand, if you are seeding a torrent along with 1000 other seeders, you have a 1/1000th of a chance of being picked for seeding your file parts. The seeder and peer counts may not display correctly on your torrent client so it is always best to check the tracker for those details.
