ruTorrent Errors

Here is a list of some of the common errors found on ruTorrent and what they mean.

Bad response from server: (500 [error, list]) Link to XMLRPC failed. May be rTorrent is down?

This happens when rTorrent is either failing or just busy. If your speeds are updating correctly, just ignore these errors.

rtorrent: Error in option file: ~/.rtorrent.rc:43: Could not prepare socket for listening: Address already in use

This occurs when another torrent client has taken your clients port. This rarely happens but in the event that it does, contact support for assistance with this.

Storage error: [File chunk write error: Cannot allocate memory.]

This tends to happen with large files. Our internet connections are naturally faster than the speed our harddrives can write the data. When you run out of RAM, the server has no other place to store the files without waiting for the harddrive to catch up. This will clear up eventually.

502 Gateway Error in ruTorrent Logger

Run this command in your SSH client: /usr/sbin/apache2ctl restart
